The library is the heart of any campus, as it provides space and resources for inspiration, collaboration, relaxation, innovation, and creation. Reading is vital to ensure that education moves beyond the classroom. Reading links everyone. It allows us to exist outside of current reality. It teaches us the power of the human spirit and how we are all connected. Working as a librarian, I have numerous ways to facilitate chances for students to connect with others and with the community. Providing a safe, welcoming environment in the library is the first step to connecting with each child on campus, providing them with opportunities to share their stories that might have previously gone unheard. The changing and enhancing of the physical library space with flexible seating options provides a safe place for students to explore new and relevant learning experiences, build connections, find a place of belonging, and enhances the school culture. The library space and makerspace continues to evolve to meet the needs of our entire campus community.
