After developing a personal mindfulness practice of my own, I realized how beneficial this practice can be for everyone, including students. Mindfulness practices increase focus, reduce stress, and promote a general sense of happiness. I have taken several classes geared toward teaching and practicing yoga and mindfulness with students, including becoming a certified Yoga Ed adolescent yoga instructor. I am planning to start offering free yoga classes to the student body during lunches and after school once a week. I am in need of yoga mats to fully implement this program. Students are very excited to begin our new mindfulness and yoga program. We are just waiting on mats to make it happen!
