I am requesting books for my students in their native language to have at home! Ensuring our students have access to literature at home is crucial for our student's success in learning to read. Most of our students here at our school do not have access to books at home in English or Spanish. Having books available in the home, in the family's first language, will help connect the gap between school and home and help our students reach grade level in ELA (English Language Arts) and SLA (Spanish Language Arts). Our students deserve access to books at home they can explore with their families and be shown the importance of learning to read. After this project is funded we will distribute these books to families whose first language is Spanish and their student is below grade level. These families have requested books and we want the families to be able to read them and enjoy them at home.
