Bring great texts to our literary desert in rural North Carolina. My students need sets of highly engaging nonfiction books that are on grade level that will help them understand themselves and the world. I recently returned to the classroom after having given away my library, so my bookshelves are bare. Currently our school has mostly classics and books that are below students' current reading level. As a result, many are not reading and not growing their reading skill. We need books at or just above their reading level that will hook these readers, build their knowledge, and inspire them to read more.
