As a first-year teacher in kindergarten, my first goal is to create an educational environment where play, imagination, and learning are intertwined with one another. My learning environment right now includes a variety of learning materials with very little separation. My children are currently playing and learning on top of one another because of the lack of distinct separation among centers and activities. This project will directly effect my kiddos in that they’re center time will become more purposeful and engaging, which will take their “play” and turn it into “learning”. Our kindergarten goal is to make learning fun and purposeful! With purposeful centers, we can have real-life, purposeful learning! Including a dramatic play center, shelving for our building center, and tables for our art and writing centers, my hope is that the students will detour away from "mindless playing" and their center time becomes more intentional, organized, and educational.
