For the beginning of this year, I have selected a book called Fish in a Tree, written by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. It is about a girl who has been a struggling reader her whole life and has kept it from her teachers by trying to play the "class clown." I thought this book would be a great book for my students to connect to. It will tie in nicely to our character unit, which I teach along with a launching unit. Ally is a great character for them to study for their first read aloud book. They will love her!
