Enticing my students to put down their devices and read can be a challenge. I have been successful at persuading students to take up a good book to read about content relevant to my class, Anatomy & Physiology. There is a key factor. That book must be captivating, entertaining, and stimulating. I want my students to READ!!! When I read Mary Roach's book "STIFF: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers" I was instantly hooked. I could not put it down and I have shared this great read with past students. Anatomy & Physiology is not just the study and dissection of interacting cells, tissues, and organs, it should be more than that. I want my students to know how specimens, human cadavers, are used everyday in science. I want them to read about the variety of unconventional careers associated with the course they are taking. We are still rebuilding after Hurricane Harvey. Help me rebuild starting with my class.
