Every person is different and has diverse learning needs. Just as we find different things relaxing and helpful for focus, so do our young students. Providing flexible seating in the classroom provides an opportunity for students to connect with what helps them feel comfortable so that they can then focus throughout the day. It also provides our students a sense of agency when they are allowed to choose for themselves. Providing options like bean bags, wobble stools, chair bands and ergonomic balance balls in addition to traditional chairs addresses a lot of varying preferences and needs our students, just like ourselves, have.
