Each morning, my students come in energized and ready to learn with about 30-35 minutes before morning announcements. They are also eager to socialize with their classmates because we work to have a strong classroom community! I would like to move away from the traditional mundane morning worksheets and provide my students with hands-on opportunities to practice social skills, problem-solving, and critical thinking. There is a great deal of research that supports the positive effects of play-based and hands-on learning. I am asking for materials that my students can quickly work on independently. These materials (building sets, pattern blocks, Lego's, brain flakes, etc.) will help to reinforce math, literacy, and fine motor skills. I am also asking for some STEAM materials (Ozobots, construction/engineering sets, etc.) to help promote critical thinking and creativity. Thank you for your time and for considering my project. I am looking forward to providing my students with a fun, new, engaging, and positive way to start their school day!
