The House on Mango Street is a part of our unit on cultural narratives. Throughout the unit students will have opportunities for close reading and discussions with peers for a deeper understanding of the text. Currently, our text is available as an online pdf for students. The House on Mango Street is a bridge between the lives of my students and the educational gap they possess. Characters within the story have similar concerns to those of my students. A book is often overlooked for its personable experience. I do not want to have students miss out on such an opportunity to see their progress in reading and understanding the pages they have read in a world comprised of screens.
