I would like to do a special service project with my art students next year involving our local animal shelters. I want the students to understand that these animals are there because they don't have a home and will stay there until someone adopts them. Students would choose an animals they feel drawn to from pictures I have taken at our local animal shelter and use their ability to draw pictures of these animals. We will then use the color printer to turn their drawings into a piece of work that we can used as a fundraiser to help the shelters support the animals. Not only will students draw them, they will also use their knowledge of complimentary colors, shading, and values to create a one of a kind piece of art. Then we will use the color printer to create posters of their art to sell at an auction to raise funds for shelters and hopefully help find good homes for the animals. Kids helping shelter animals art service project will not only help students with their artistic abilities but also help them develop empathy and compassion for the animals in our community. It is important for students to develop that sense of community and willingness to give back to better our city.
