Our school is focused on students with Autism. All of my students vary so much in their skills and abilities. Many of them have voiced and advocated for more hands-on learning approaches. Providing the materials we need to start a greenhouse will provide our students the opportunity for just that. Not only will they be able to grow plants, herbs, and flowers, but they will be able to grow the life skills they have. They hope to grow plants and herbs to use in our school cafe where students already have the opportunity to learn to cook and gain 'work' experience. They also will be able to get experience in entrepreneurship in marketing and selling plants to fund other projects, activities, and learning materials. Giving these students a greenhouse not only gives them the ability to learn but the opportunity to thrive and gain useful skills they can utilize throughout their lives.
