I chose fun activities to keep my students engaged while we talk about topics related to their psychosocial development. For instance, while we play a game of checkers or make slime, we can talk about the importance of empathy and brainstorm specific examples from the students' life when empathy would be important. I intend to meet with my students one-on-one over the course of the school year for about 30 minutes each time to do an activity and learn a social skill that contributes to their psychosocial development. I chose toys/activities like LEGO sets and slime kits because they also promote S.T.E.M. (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) development.
