My classroom utilizes online programs from the Autism Curriculum Encyclopedia (ACE) to make progress on students' individualized education plan (IEP) goals. Students sit with an educator and complete their programs while that educator takes notes and data on how they complete each task. The principles of ABA are ever-present in my room, and we take data on everything from toileting routines to working independently, varying by the needs of the student in question. Right now, I run all of my students' programs independently using my laptop, and the task can be incredibly time-consuming to complete on my own, as the average number of programs per student in my classroom is 7. Having an iPad in our classroom will allow for more of my students' ACE programs to be run daily, and increase the progress they make in achieving their goals. More of the staff in my room will be able to access and run programs at the same time, which decreases the amount of time it will take to complete them and increases the time available for other learning opportunities in our class! By supporting this project, you will have an active hand in giving my students more of the supports they need. As an added bonus, you will be giving the gift of accessibility to all of the educational apps, games, and functional communication opportunities that an iPad can offer.
