In my classroom there are 13 boys and 9 girls. We attend a public school in Wisconsin. We are beginning the school year with our focus on being respectful, being responsible, and being safe. Through teacher modeling and student brainstorming the students are well on their way to being able to demonstrate the three B's. The students are also sharing their Hopes and Dreams for first grade. For many students, they hope to be able to read chapter books, while others hope to be able to spell long words. Students come to school each day eager to learn and share their own knowledge with their peers.
