Most of my kids have never seen or touched a computer, let alone a tablet, until this school year. Currently we have four desktop computers from the early 2000s and ten refurbished donated laptops from the early 1990s. That being said the desktops perform decently enough, but with the limited number, my students have to take turns with only 4-8 finishing research and reading quizzes a day due to the computers freezing. The laptops on the other hand crash constantly and most of the work the students do complete is lost or marked as a zero for "quitting" a quiz. Generation Z kids need new and improved technology to better prepare them for what lies ahead in their future. With the Samsung tablets, the kids will conduct research projects fulfilling Common Core Standards, read and take Accelerated Reader quizzes, and become familiar with new technology. Reading and taking quizzes is an everyday occurrence and with these tablets the students will be more fitted for success. In our classroom, I require students to conducting research projects by using online books, internet, tablets and present it to their peers. Having tablets will facilitate the research project for the kiddos.
