My students are from all different backgrounds and experiences. My lower performing students have a great desire to achieve and do better, but often don't have the resources and support necessary to do so. I have taught many of these students and have seen changes when students are recognized and develop pride in their work. They attend a school with one of the highest achievement gaps in the state. However we are in the 7th year of improved state testing scores, and we are focused on closing the achievement gap. With the giving, student-first staff we are confident that we can achieve this goal.
