Our students and staff were impacted greatly because of the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey. Many families are still displaced and the kids consider school their "safe home." Each of the selected games and learning toys will satisfy their need to problem solve and make sense of the changing world around them. The Design Studio is an example of just one creative, problem solving game that helps kids to imagine real world answers to modern and historical problems. I believe in providing children many different opportunities to explore their individual interests as well as practice working collaboratively with classmates. Goal setting and honing of social/emotional skills can be difficult to master but with practice we can be successful. With kid-centered, targeted learning, we can gently nudge kids toward developing critical skills that will celebrate a love of learning. The selected materials and kits will encourage my learners to ask questions and successfully find answers to these questions.
