This community outreach project will benefit not only our students but the community we live in as well. We are wanting to take our first graders to our local dog shelters and have them read books to the animals. We see value in doing this that not only benefits our students but the dogs as well. Our students will be learning about community services in the classroom first while working on their growing reading skills. Our first grade students are especially interested in dogs and love interacting with all dogs. We see this project as a win win for everyone!
