The more time that students spend in the class, the more opportunities there are for learning. Wellness Toolkits will provide resources for students to be able to independently take short and non-distracting breaks in the classroom for a set amount of time and then transition back to the learning seamlessly. Providing a variety of self regulation resources ranging from hand fidgets to timers encourages self awareness and autonomy of the students as they learn what works best for them. Larger items like heating pads will support more independent students regulate other wellness needs without lengthy time outside the classroom or going home early. Mindful design of the process is also equally important and teachers and students will be trained on using the materials and storage systems before implementation begins!
