I plan to implement a "Free Reading" time at the beginning of my class periods. This will be a time where students can choose what they want to read, and hopefully this will help to foster a greater love of reading. I have chosen books that will hit a wide range of interests, from the graphic novel to classic literature, in hopes of creating a classroom library. So many students get burnt out on reading because they are assigned their texts. I am hoping that having a time of their own, to read what THEY want, will encourage, or help to foster, an appreciation of reading.
