This equipment can be used throughout the year in my Biology class. With NGSS we are integrating Biotech throughout the entire year. I can use it throughout the year to help students uncover how science works in figuring out paternity, ancestry, diagnose genetic disorders and of course solve crimes. All of these topics are going to continue to grow in respect to our understanding at the scientific level. It will also bring up many ethical issues that these students will be a part of deciding. It will help them understand what alleles, genes, enzymes are so that when there is a new media report related to these topics they can be informed citizens. Additionally my students will be doing the same protocols as well as using the same equipment that is used in real labs.
