Earbuds are cheap but they can also damage children’s hearing. As a health educator, I’m advocating for my students’ hearing. My students use chrome books daily in class. I teach in the inner city where 91% of my students live at or below the poverty level. Our school is very diverse. 25% population of English Language Learners and 21% population of Special education students. I can have up to 29 students in my class with no push in support from other teachers. So I rely on technology to help me differentiate my lessons. I’m able to use apps such as ed puzzle and screenify to record my lessons so students can learn at their own pace. Many websites students use have the option to read out loud so students often listen to articles as well. This is a great feature for ELL and special education students. If students don’t have headphones everyone’s sound is on and the classroom is very loud and it’s hard to focus. Instructional time is lost if students have to go to their locker to get their ear buds (if they even have them). Having headphones will help class run more smoothly. These headphones are safer for students and are more hygienic. Thank you for your support!
