Graphic novels are by far the most popular genre among my students, and even the most reluctant readers have found books they enjoy. My students need new graphic novels to fuel their academic growth and love of reading. On average, my students have almost grown one year in their reading level since September. However, we still have a ways to go until all of us are reading on grade level. For every minute students spend reading a text at their level, their fluency and comprehension improves. Graphic novels will help more students get the engaging practice they need in order to develop as readers.
