Research has shown that phonemic awareness is key to developing reading skills in children. This proves to be especially true for children diagnosed as learning disabled or intellectually delayed. I want to level the playing field for my students. I want them to have the foundation of reading ability so that when I send them on they are prepared to continue learning and to find school success. I will use the requested materials to set up learning centers, teach small groups and try to help these struggling learners crack the reading code. Their future depends on the successes they find today!
