I want to provide soft seating like the bean bags and rug for students to have a space to learn to safely express and regulate their feelings. The storage shelves will help enclose the space as well as provide a place for books and sensory materials. I will include materials, such as the theraputty and other sensory materials, to provide sensory input to assist students with self regulation. I am at a new school and after 23 years as a school social worker have enough room in my office to create a calming corner. I am so excited. I plan to have it as an ocean beach theme as so many of us find the ocean relaxing!
