Returning to school this fall during the pandemic, students' interest in learning more about diversity is very high. One area we lack the resources to help engage students is in graphic novels. Some students hate to read a traditional text, which is a problem. Graphic novels offer a solution to engage some students. Representative John Lewis has helped to develop this series of graphic novels that engage students who do not enjoy reading on a topic that is very important. I have shared my own personal copy of Book One with students and they love it! This project will keep his memory alive and help more students learn about our nation's history.
