My students need more books in my classroom library. Reading is critical to students' success, and it is also a ton of fun! Students who read more have better vocabularies and background knowledge to apply to classes and life. Many students in my district do not have many books at home and cannot always get to the library. Our school library is outdated and my classroom library is very limited. Adding more books to my classroom library allows students to have more opportunities to develop a love for reading and feel more confident when reading our grade level novel. I selected titles written about different diverse characters and situations to help my students see characters that look like them and gain insight into other cultures and experiences.
