My students are very energetic and the classroom can be stifling for kids who really need kinesthetic movement throughout the day. On some days, students won't leave the classroom for four hours, but they need to move! Studies have shown that movement also stimulates the brain and helps people to learn. By having wobble cushions and backless stools, my students will focus less on how uncomfortable they are and more on the material they are learning. We have one spinning chair in the room that is meant for the teacher, but several students actually complete their work more efficiently while they are in this seat that allows them to move.
