My students enjoy my classroom theme of mountains. We take each book we read as an adventure! These books are specific to their grade level as well as below grade level because unfortunately some students come to 4th grade struggling to read. And they can have a disdain for reading. This project will help them have confidence reading as well as see that reading is something to be enjoyed and treasured. Like an adventure, the path is not always easy but the journey is what matters the most. I want to inspire my students to tackle books with excitement even when it is challenging.
My students have a love for students reading that is sometimes hidden behind the fear of failure, these books will give my students the inspiration to grow their love and take that chance!
Being only a second year teacher at a high needs school, it is difficult to have enough books in a wide range to fit all the needs of my students. I teach three different classes of students, each student and each class with different reading interests as well as ability levels. Having enough books at various levels is a challenge. more books with greatly foster more students to embrace their love for reading and take it to new heights! The books I selected will be a celebrated addition to our classroom and be treated with respect.
