Our school is a small district in Oklahoma consisting of about 900 elementary children. Socioeconomically, we are all over the chart, and we have a large number of American Indian students. I have a wonderful and curious group of fourth graders. Not only do they learn through me, I learn through them daily. I love to teach them about real world situations, and most of those events involve knowing how to successfully use technology. They come to school telling me all about social networking, online gaming, and text messages. Of course those are things that I can help them learn to be safe with, but I also want to teach them how to upload photos and written documents. When my students grow up, getting a job will more than likely require keyboarding skills as well as the ability to attach a digital photo or file to an email. It would be my pleasure to be able to teach them some of those skills in my classroom especially since many of them do not have those resources at home.
