My students are inner city kids that struggle with gang and drug infested neighborhoods. They qualify for free lunch, (we are a Title 1 school), and many of them are on government assistance. The majority come from immigrant families, some kids being first generation born in the U.S. and a large population being immigrants themselves. However, these kids show determination in learning, as our growing API demonstrates year after year. Even with all challenges my students dream big and are receptive to teacher guidance in academic and personal matters.
