Every year my students complete a history project to compete in the annual National History Day competition. However, my students have a great desire to learn about a diverse array of groups that are visible in their communities, but are excluded from their history textbooks. These books would help students learn the broader historical context for their topic of choice. These books will allow me to engage students in learning to explain major historical events of Black, Latinx, American Indian, LGBTQIA, Disability, and Women's history. I am looking to provide these materials to students to use during class time or check out a diverse array of books to my students for completion of their history projects. These books will engage my students in growing the content knowledge needed to engage in rigorous historical argument writing.
