I'm raising funds to buy 50 new diverse books for our classroom library. It's so important for students to see themselves and their families reflected in the texts that we read together throughout the school year. Especially with the current state of political affairs in our country, it's essential for our students to learn about other cultures and communities and foster connection, empathy, and love. These books will be used during whole-group read-alouds and include titles that reflect the ethnicities and communities of my current students. I've aimed to include titles that authentically honor the unique lives of my students and that don't simply provide a stereotypical representation of their culture.
