Students will have a variety of seating options within the classroom to read, collaborate or complete assignments. We know that children can sustain a longer attention span when they have alternative seating choices. I would like my classroom to have a "pleasant cozy" environment. I believe children learn best when they have a variety of areas to settle in. I believe these chairs will be an ideal addition to my classroom to foster focus, stamina and contentment. I teaching reading and writing to all fifth graders at our school site. While I am working with small groups, I have reading/writing activities set up in the room for those who are working independently. The room needs to be quiet during this time. Adding additional seating in the room will help students spread out to complete work. These areas will also allow small groups to gather in Literature Circles. In addition, students will quietly practice fluency, share their writing and practice vocabulary.
