I teach 66 remarkable third graders with a great capacity for learning, despite the challenges they face everyday. Most of my students come from single parent homes with limited resources and are on the school's free or reduced price breakfast and lunch program. By the third week of school many of my students still did not have necessary school supplies such as notebooks and folders. Despite these challenges I witness their active participation in class every day and their willingness to share with and help their fellow students. With the right support and guidance I have no doubt in their ability to succeed.
