From the very first day of school it has been clear that these students are bubbling with energy and are very expressive. Any lesson involving group work or hands-on activities immediately grabs the attention of these passionate students. This is why I feel that dry erase boards are an essential in my classroom. Dry erase boards are an important material for my students because they will ensure that all of my energetic students are engaged in every piece of my lesson. These personal boards will also ensure that students are responsible for their own learning. They can respond to grade level texts and questions, cite text evidence, and share their own ideas or opinions about a topic and then share with others in the class quickly and easily. Being able to use something fun such as a whiteboard during a lesson will help my students to tackle these tough fifth and sixth grade standards with confidence. Dry erase boards also enable me to quickly assess the learning of my students. With a command of "quick check" students know to pop their boards (and answers) in the air for me to see. These answers allow me to quickly get a grasp on the effectiveness of my lesson and also enablesme to better meet the needs of my students. Overall, these dry erase boards and markers are essential to the success of my incredible students!
