My students come from all kinds of walks of life, but are predominantly students of color who have fallen through the cracks of traditional schooling. Most are from low-income backgrounds. Many are foster youth, others have struggled with gang affiliations, and most have had serious struggles in their family lives. ALL desperately want to make a change in their lives and earn their diploma. Many want to continue on to college to further their education. They attend our school and take online accelerated classes in order to make up the credits they are missing. They come into class for four hour sessions and also work at home. Our school is small (under 200 students) but we do our best to give them a family environment that is full of encouragement for what they can achieve.
