These requested books are essential to my students. Many of the students are English language learners/English as a second language, and reading is often frustrating for them. There is no library in our school, so it is up to each classroom teacher to provide an opportunity for their students to read. By having a variety of books, reading levels, and topics within my classroom library, I can encourage my students to read, and show them that reading can be fun. Literacy is so important, and the more that my students are immersed in stories and given opportunities to read, the more confident they will become as readers and the more their vocabulary will grow.
