My Adult Living Skills students should have opportunities to learn how to cook using different appliances. My students have a range of disabilities and/or physical impairments that make it more difficult for them to learn how to cook using a standard stove. Having a countertop oven and Instant Pot will allow my students to learn a wide range of recipes that require baking, roasting, or toasting, which they can utilize to make their own meals at home, thus increasing their independence. These appliances have various functions that will make cooking easier for most of my students. It also helps that they are portable and can be moved from the kitchen counter to the top of students' desks, so that they are able to participate in cooking lessons. These appliances will be also great to use when my class plans feasts for the holidays. They would be positive additions to our lacking kitchen.
