I am performing a lab with my students where they will be extracting DNA from onions, but I would like to show them some of the practical applications that scientists use DNA extractions for to stimulate their interest in STEM careers. While I have the gel electrophoresis rig (the equiment) to run the gels, I do not have the purified DNA, chemicals, and other perishables to do so. The Fast Gels Kit contains all of these materials to perform my lab with my gel electrophoresis rig. This experiment would allow my students to learn the technology and experiments that scientists in STEM careers use everyday for procedures such as genetic tests, forensic science, genetic counseling, genome sequencing, and gene expression studies.
