I have asked for a class set of whisper phones. The children will use these like they are talking into a phone. They will choose a book, and grab a whisper phone. Then they will be off to their own reading spot. The whole class will be able to read at the same time, and not disturb each other. It is very important for children to hear their own voices when they read. This helps with phonemic awareness, fluency, comprehension, self correction, and confidence. My students are already excited about reading, and the whisper phones would really be the icing on the cake in growing "Super Amazing Whisper Readers!"
