When filling up a classroom library, boys are often left out. The library usually reflects the reading tastes of the teacher, and many teachers in the English profession are women. Boys are often left out of the reading selection process. Classroom libraries should reflect the tastes of the students, not just the teacher! My male students have been clamoring for new titles that reflect their tastes, their interests, something that will ignite their imaginations and love of literature. The titles that I have selected were mostly obtained through the search "Best Books for Teenage Boys" and also through student comments from our "Books to Buy" list for our classroom library. We would be using these amazing novels in book clubs and in independent reading. The impact upon my students would be increased interest in literature and becoming lifelong readers.
