I am asking for several books for my language learners. The books are culturally diverse and some are bilingual. Building a students first language is always beneficial for language learning. Many of the books have themes of developing empathy and seeking to understand those who are different from us. For example, Chocolate Milk Por Favor celebrates diversity with empathy and kindness. It is about a student named Johnny who wants to befriend a new classmate who does not speak English. A great addition to any classroom library! In addition to books, I am asking for an iPad with a hard case and headphones. This will be used for my newcomers. They will check out the iPad in the beginning of the day to have with them in their general education classrooms. When they have free time, they will be able to use different language learning applications that use audio and visual learning to acquire new phrases and vocabulary.
