My students are special needs students that receive intense Language Arts instruction to try to improve reading and comprehension skills. I have students that are mainly diagnosed with ED/OHI. These issues have greatly impacted the students' learning throughout their educational careers. These children have to have all test and reading materials read to them in class to help them comprehend the lesson being taught. During the school day in my classroom, students get frustrated during reading lessons and have meltdowns, which further delays the learning process. The school district they attend is a high risk urban district located in Illinois. Poverty has plagued the school district, and a vast major of the students that I teach come from generational poverty families.
