Last year our music program grew from 110 students to over 150 students. While my students are lucky to have instruments to play, we have a critical need for sheet music to perform at school activities and concerts. There has been research that connects engagement in music with enhancements in English literacy. The best way for students to learn how to read music is to regularly practice reading music. Individual pieces of sheet music can be expensive, but the band and orchestra books selected for this project each contain many pieces of music. This means that by funding my project you will be providing students music literacy opportunities for years to come.
