I want my students to be able to read books with characters that they personally identify with. With having such a diverse group of kiddos, I want every student to be able to read about characters that share either their same race, gender, socio-economic status, or struggle. My hope is that my students will be motivated to read by finding characters that they share similarities with. A lot of my students have hard home lives, and I want these characters to give my students hope. I believe that these books will also help motivate my students who aren't enthusiastic readers yet.
