All students need to develop life skills, but these students need a little more instruction then the "average" child. The books will be used to reinforce peer relationships, communication, and other important life skills - both through self reflection and character analysis of fictional people in the novel. They will also be given the opportunity to shake\move as they need, without disrupting others, allowing them to stay focused on the tasks at hand. The ball will allow for whole group interaction and discussion through team building, focused on the skills learned through our readings and applying them to real world situations.
