Every kid should know the joy of building with quality wooden blocks. There's nothing like it in kindergarten! That's why my kindergarten children would love to have a set of wooden blocks for our classroom. I wish you could meet the wonderfully creative bunch of 5-6 year old students in my class! They are thankful for all of the supplies we have in our room. Young children benefit from playing with wooden building blocks. Block building helps children develop motor skills, balance, fantasy play, social skills, eye-hand coordination, organizational skills, and more. Research shows that children who are able to build complex structures with blocks have a better chance of mathematical success in middle and high school, even taking into account students' IQ levels, social class, and gender (Wolfgang, Stannard, and Jones 2001). Wooden block sets are expensive. Many families would not be able to provide quality blocks at home. School is the perfect place for many children to benefit from one set of blocks. Blocks are a basic classroom supply for kindergarten. Unfortunately, being a first year section of kindergarten, my classroom did not come with blocks. If I spent classroom funds on blocks, very little would be leftover for other classroom necessities. Your donation would make it possible for my children to experience the joy and researched benefits of building with blocks. Thanks in advance for your donations!
