Last year, the 60-member (and growing!) Mohawk Marching Band was given a fantastic gift by Morley Stanwood Community Schools - their very own marching band practice field! This has helped make a huge difference in the profile and success of the band. This spring, we will be building a permanent director's tower on the field as well. Making these phenomenal improvements have led us to having only one remaining logistical concern: communication! Rehearsing the band across a 100-yard football field can be a struggle, as very little can be done to make sure this communication is effective when I am shouting from a tower. A portable, battery-powered PA system will allow the band to hear instructions clearly, listen to metronome clicks and recordings, and most importantly allow me to provide critical feedback to the students wherever they are on the field. Using the built-in Bluetooth Connectivity, instructors will be able to be heard anywhere on the field they are. Also, our auxiliary units will be able to take these speakers for their own rehearsals when they are off the field. Our marching band, which continues to improve, can use your help! As a source of pride for this school and community, we owe them all the tools to be successful. Something as simple as the ability to communicate properly can make a huge difference in growing these students into capable and successful musicians.
